But, What about the Children?

If Governor John Bel Edwards has his way, many Louisiana children will be left with no choice other than to attend low-performing public schools. Governor Bel Edwards is proposing that the Louisiana Scholarship Program be cut by $6 million dollars, leaving it impossible to continue serving the current number of children supported by the program, and ultimately leading to approximately 1000 students suffering under poor educational conditions.  According to Ann Duplessis, President of the Louisiana Federation for Children in New Orleans,

“Students who lose their scholarships will have to return to public schools where the state will continue to fund their education. The Louisiana Federation for Children will fight relentlessly on behalf of parents to preserve and grow the program that allows low-income families to choose how their children are educated.”
